My name is Alex Pagdin.
I’m 20 years old and I’m autistic, having been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome when I was 14 prior to the condition being renamed to Autism Spectrum Disorder.
I’ve had to endure challenges relating to my autism for my entire life, and have spent many years interacting with other people who are on the autism spectrum, hearing about and often witnessing their own personal struggles and challenges. I have been through many of the common problems that other autistic people my age experience – depression, loneliness, anxiety, struggles to fit in with or understand other people, suicidal thoughts – and know how hard these issues can be to overcome.
I also know that there are things that can help, things that can be learned to make life as an autistic person more manageable. I decided several years ago that I wanted to one day find a way of sharing what I’ve learned (and am still learning) in order to help other autistic people cope with the difficulties that life presents them with. That is why I’m here at 2diverse.
